I forgot to post about our Cord Blood Donation in my super long post.
Around 9 am on Monday morning May 12, the Cord Blood Donation lady showed up. She asked us if we wanted to donate. I'd been praying that we would be able to donate. It seems like such a great donation that we can help out with. If we can help save a life by the cord blood how fantastic!
So a little TMI: we had a 9 lbs (this is the rough estimate from the doctor) placenta. This is huge! The doctor said it was very healthily looking and would make a great donation.
So the minimum donation is 40 mL of blood. The average placenta, they can get 70 - 90 mL of blood. With our placenta, they were able to get 162 or 167 mL of blood. This was so much that they almost had to use a second bag (the bag only holds 175 mL).
The Cord Blood Donation lady was ecstatic! She normally gets only small donations.
